Pas-Bersatu alliance poses formidable challenge for PH-BN in defeating PN
KUALA TERENGGANU - With Pas and Bersatu joining forces, Pakatan Harapan (PH)-Barisan Nasional (BN) will find it extremely difficult to defeat Perikatan Nasional (PN).
Political analyst Dr Syaza Shukri acknowledged the difficulty in predicting the outcome.
However, she stressed that in Terengganu, the "greenwave" phenomenon might not be as applicable due to the state's historical association with Pas.
"Terengganu, like Kelantan, has long been a stronghold for Pas.
"While Islamist sentiment remains present, it is not as strong as in Kelantan," Dr Syaza told Sinar Daily.
Meanwhile, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) senior lecturer Dr Nur Ayuni Mohd Isa expressed confidence in the impact of the "greenwave" in the state election, albeit temporarily.
"With the alliance between Pas and Bersatu, PH-BN faces significant challenges in defeating PN. However, there is still hope.
"The number of PN seats is unlikely to decrease or remain the same. If PN's agenda and campaign prove effective, the 'greenwave' could regain momentum and secure additional seats," Ayuni said.
Ayuni also highlighted the outstanding performance of Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar over the past five years, which has greatly benefited PN.
His increasing popularity and prestige among the Terengganu voters have contributed to PN's support in the region.
