Police report lodged against Minister for unauthorised intervention at KLIA
IZWAN ROZLINSHAH ALAM - A police report was lodged by a local citizen regarding the commotion involving Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on Thursday.
According to the report, the complainant, Shariman Nordin, who is a company owner, lodged the report at the Main Terminal Building Police Station at 4:30pm on Saturday after reading a media report about the widely shared incident at the KLIA Arrival Hall and the minister's subsequent explanation.
"I filed this report because I believe that the minister does not possess the legal authority to intervene on five separate occasions," said Shariman.
He further claimed that the minister, along with a civil servant without authority, attempted to release a Chinese national who was detained by officials from the Immigration Department at KLIA.
"I also read the minister's explanation, who also accused immigration officers of asking for bribes from the foreigner and ordered the MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission) to investigate them," he said.
