State polls: DAP to feature several new faces
SEREMBAN - Negeri Sembilan DAP will feature several new faces as candidates in the upcoming state election.
Its chairman Anthony Loke said some of the incumbents who represented the party in the 14th General Election (GE14) would not be nominated.
"I have mentioned to the state committee earlier, I appreciate every assemblyman who showed high loyalty in our fight and in fulfilling the people's mandate.
"But in any election, there should be some process of change so there would be new faces. Therefore, not all incumbents will be re-nominated," he said in a press conference after chairing the DAP State Committee Meeting at Negeri Sembilan DAP Office, here, today.
However, he said it did not mean that the incumbents that would not be nominated in the upcoming state election had not performed well.
Loke said they had not decided on the number of new faces to field and were currently in the evaluation process since the seats allocation process had yet to be completed.
"Negeri Sembilan state assembly has officially dissolved today, so after the dissolution there are many process to go through and we have a few more weeks to make a decision and it will be made according to the process.
"The negotiation process to finalise the seats is still ongoing and when it is completed, we will know which seats will be contested and from there we will decide on the candidates," he said.
Loke also said he was ready to give up on the current Chennah seat if asked to do so.
PH had won 20 seats out of the 36 state assembly seats in GE14 whereas 11 of the seats belonged to DAP.
The remaining 16 seats were won by BN.
