Wife drowns, husband and nephew missing after falling off boat
KOTA BHARU - A woman has been found drowned after falling off a boat that was said to have suddenly stopped functioning in an incident at Sungai Kampung Kutan Hulu, yesterday.
The victim's husband and nephew who were with her during the incident at about 6.45pm were still missing.
Tumpat police chief Assistant Commissioner Amran Dolah said the victim was identified as Nor Awadah Sulong, 30.
"The victim's husband and nephew are identified as Wan Muhamad Najmi Wan Taib, 30 and Amrullah Fitri Afendi, 10.
"However, the couple's daughter Wan Nur Ameena Wan Muhamad, who was also with them during the incident, was safe as she had clinged onto the boat's steering wheel," he said.
He said it was believed that the victims were enjoying a boat ride before its engine suddenly stopped and they fell into the river.
