SHAH ALAM - A DAP assemblyman has requested the Pahang state government make the key performance indicators (KPIs) for the commercial vehicle ban in Tanah Rata, Cameron Highland.

Tanah Rata State Assemblyman Ho Chi Yang urged the state government and relevant organisations to lift the ban on commercial vehicles every Friday to Sunday from 10 am to 3 pm, including vegetable trucks, which are also subjected to the restriction.

It was reported earlier that the Pahang administration had requested the ban from the federal government.

The ban is intended to ease traffic congestion during peak travel times.

Earlier today, Ho participated in a demonstration against the prohibition with 50 farmers, logisticians, and locals in Kea Farm, Cameron Highlands.

Ho said that in the three weeks since the restriction was enforced, it was obvious that there had been no improvement in terms of the Cameron Highlands traffic congestion.

"For example, the Haji holiday and weekend have proven that the traffic jams in Cameron Highlands are still severe, regardless of whether vegetable and commercial vehicles are on the road.

"If the ban is proven ineffective, the government should withdraw the ban immediately to stop disrupting the vegetable supply chain, which is one of the primary keys to food security," the Tanah Rata representative said.
