MACC arrests three officers for taking bribe from lorry driver
Sinar ReportersKUALA LUMPUR - Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) arrested three law enforcement officers of a government department on suspicion of demanding and accepting bribes of approximately RM800 from a lorry driver.
According to sources, the lorry driver claimed that the three male suspects who were riding in a department vehicle had asked for a bribe in return for being released from summons.
The source explained that the lorry driver allegedly did not have a licence to carry goods when he was arrested at about 8.30pm on Tuesday.
The source also said that the three suspects, aged between 35 and 41 years old, were believed to have been arrested by MACC officers near a bus stop in Kuala Lumpur at about 11.30pm on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur MACC director Mohamad Fauzi Husin, when contacted, confirmed the arrest and said the case was investigated under Section 17(a) of the MACC Act 2009. - AWANI
