PETALING JAYA - Muda is taking applications for those interested to run in the upcoming state elections soon.

Muda Election director Luqman Long said he was looking for candidates with potential from various backgrounds to become the ‘people’s candidate’ capable of providing their best services for the people.

“We opened applications online through google form. The candidates must fulfil important and basic criterias, which are desirable and diverse candidates in terms of background, gender composition and profession.

"They need to not only know about issues happening now, but they must have the capability to deal with the people’s problems in addition to being the best problem solvers.

“Candidates must also have integrity and values not only in representing Muda but the people in the policy making stage,” he said.

He said this during a press conference on Wednesday attended by Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.

On Monday, Syed Saddiq had announced that Muda would fly solo with their own strength in the state elections soon.

Luqman who is also the party's Information chief said the party intended to place at least 50 per cent of women candidates in the state elections.

However, he said he would not reveal the total number of seats contested by Muda, but the matter would be announced soon.

Luqman explained Muda intends to tour the six states in search for potential candidates for the elections.
