ALOR SETAR - Kedah police warns the public not to purchase or sell fireworks for the Hari Raya Aidiladha festivities.

Kedah police chief Datuk Fisol Salleh said online sales and purchases were also prohibited.

He said all parties must obey the prohibition to avoid any injuries, death, or fire that could damage properties.

“Individuals found to own, sell, purchase or playing with fireworks without a permit would have actions taken against them under Section 7 and Section 8 of the Explosives Act 1957 or under Section 13 of the Minor Offences Act 1955,” he said in a press statement here on Wednesday.

Fisol advised the public to plan their travels and to be aware of the latest traffic flow information while returning to their hometowns.

“Exercise your role as a careful road user and obey traffic rules by not cutting lines, abusing emergency lanes or parking vehicles to block roads,” he said.

He reminded those returning to their home towns to take extra precautions when leaving their homes unattended for long periods.

“Those leaving their homes to return to their hometowns must ensure it is locked and inform the nearest police station for safety patrols.

“May the Aidiladha festivities be celebrated in a peaceful and prosperous atmosphere,” he said.
