Tawau police dispose of 146 bullets, 19 firearms
The disposal was carried out following a court order for disposal and forfeiture to the government.
Tawau district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Jasmin Hussin, said that the discarded items included investigation papers from 2017 to 2022.
"In addition to firearms and bullets, we have also disposed of 10 vehicles, a number of contraband cigarettes, seven printing machines, and nine mobile phones.
"The disposal process involved 28 investigation papers related to the Firearms Act 1971, nine investigation papers related to the Open Gambling House Act 1953, and 56 papers related to the Customs Act 1967," he said in a statement on Wednesday.
He clarified that the disposal was carried out following a court order for disposal and forfeiture to the government.
"This disposal includes cases that have completed investigations and court sentences, with instructions for disposal and forfeiture to the Malaysian government," he added.
Also present were the Tawau Criminal Investigation Division chief, Deputy Superintendent Mursalin Mahmud, and a representative from the Mechanical Armament Rifle Armament (AMRA) of the Tawau IPD.
