SHAH ALAM – Civil servants in Selangor will get Friday off after the state government declared it as public holiday for Hari Raya Aidiladha celebrated a day before.

Selangor State Government Secretary Datuk Haris Kasim said the additional leave was given following the declaration of the date of Hari Raya Aidiladha on Thursday corresponding to 10 Zulhijjah 1444 Hijrah.

He claimed that the holiday was granted in conformity with the Holidays Act of 1951 (Act 369).

"The additional holiday is for all civil servants in state government departments and agencies, as well as state local authorities only," he said in a statement, today.

However, statutory bodies, state government subsidiaries, and private parties, he noted, are not subjected to the additional public holiday and must follow the Employment Act of 1955 (Act 265).
