KUALA TERENGGANU - The Election Court today canceled and dismissed Barisan Nasional (BN) petition to challenge the result of the 15th General Election (GE15) of Marang MP which was won by Pas candidate Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang.

The petition was filed by BN candidate Jasmira Othman on Jan 3, 2023.

Kuala Terengganu High Court Judge Datuk Hassan Abdul Ghani made the decision and ordered the petitioner to pay costs of RM50,000 to the respondent.

The decision was taken after the court found that the petitioner failed to raise any reasonable doubt.

The development of the results will be informed to the Election Commission (SPR) in the near future.

On Jan 3, the Terengganu Umno Liaison Body filed a petition to cancel the GE15 results for the Kuala Terengganu, Marang and Kemaman constituencies

The petition involving the three constituencies was filed in the Kuala Terengganu High Court in accordance with the Election Offenses Act 1954.

Terengganu Umno chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Said said the petition was filed among other things on the allegation that Pas bribed voters by distributing aid money given by the state government on 15 to 17 November 2022.
