SHAH ALAM – Perikatan Nasional (PN) has pledged to introduce more people-oriented initiatives if entrusted with the governance of Selangor in the upcoming State Election.

Selangor PN chairman, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said that the coalition possesses the authority to lead Selangor towards a better future, enhancing the living standards of its people more effectively than the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government.

The former menteri besar highlighted the contributions of other PN leaders, including Datuk Ahmad Yunus Hairi, the previous Pas Selangor Commissioner and state Exco member, who had implemented numerous measures for the welfare of the people.

"We have experience in administering this state. For instance, in Selangor, we provided RM2,500 to the next of kin when a person passes away.

"We welcome people of all religions, be it Malays, Chinese, or Indians, to alleviate the grief and financial burden faced by the family," he said on Monday night during his address at Selangor Baharu Kita Bangkit! Shah Alam in Section 18.

He also noted that many parties expressed interest in the Skim Mesra Usia Emas (SMUE) introduced by the Selangor government in the past.

"Some residents from Johor contacted me to verify if it is true that they are entitled to RM2,500 if a death occurs in Selangor.

"I assure you it's true, and as a result, crowds of people flocked to Selangor, not to die, but to witness the effectiveness of the scheme," he said.

However, Azmin Ali mentioned that the PH government no longer implements this initiative.

He further shared that he granted tax breaks for low-cost dwellings, traditional villages, and new communities during his administration.

"Just last week, the federal government announced a 25 per cent reduction in assessment tax for medium-cost (affordable) residences."

"We have been doing this for a long time, providing not just 25 per cent but 100 per cent assessment tax deduction, including for roadside vendors who were exempt from business license fees at that time," he added.

He highlighted that his government had also introduced a healthcare plan that provided treatment coverage.

A budget of RM125 million was allocated to allow every individual in the state to receive medical check-ups at 1,000 private clinics.

"While the Health Minister recently announced a public medical scheme offering RM250 per month, we used to provide RM700 to the people," he said.

Therefore, he urged the people of Selangor to make informed decisions and entrust PN with the management of the state government.

"We are determined to build a new Selangor in this state election and will reach out to the 56 State Legislative Assembly seats in Selangor, as the people's perception and support for PN seem to be favorable," he concluded.
