SHAH ALAM - Pas secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan has refuted a statement circulating on social media, claiming that the party will solely protect the rights of Malays and Muslims, as false.

In a Facebook post, Takiyuddin labeled the statement, dated June 24, as "fake and entirely defamatory."

"It is clear that this is a deliberate attempt by certain individuals to discredit Pas," he said.

According to the statement, Pas purportedly agreed to prioritise the interests of Malays and Muslims, citing non-Muslims as a supposed "threat" to national unity.

The statement further alleged that the party believed non-Muslim communities were detrimental to society.
