SINGAPORE - Singapore Court has granted another two-week adjournment for a prosecutor to conduct a further investigation on a man who allegedly assaulted Malaysian actor Kamal Adli.

District Judge Ong Hian Sun also maintained no-bail for the accused and fixed July 10 for further mention of the case.

"Police case prosecution is not ready yet. We are seeking two-week adjournment. AGC (Attorney-General’s Chambers) has consulted and IO (investigation officer) has been guided to conduct further investigation,” said the prosecutor.

The accused on Monday who appeared via a video link was represented by counsel Wee Hong Shern of Ong & Co. LLC.

Wee had no objection to the adjournment and had also informed the court that his client had instructed him to make a bail application.

However, Wee did ask the prosecutor whether the further investigation is related to fresh charges or existing ones.

Replying to Wee, the prosecutor said : "It is on the existing charges. Fresh charges yet to be tendered.”

The 33-year-old man was charged at State Courts on March 14 for "his suspected involvement in a case of voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapon.”

If convicted, the offence of voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous weapon under Section 324 of the Penal Code carries an imprisonment term which may extend to seven years, a fine, caning, or any combination of such punishments.
