Man found dead with hands, feet bound in Tumpat

TUMPAT - A man's body was found with his hands and feet tied at a two-storey terrace home that is currently under renovation in Taman Kota Kubang Labu, Bandar Baharu Pasir Pekan, here on Sunday.

The unidentified man, in his 40s, was found around 3pm by the renovation workers.

The 34-year-old homeowner said the workers had smelled a foul stench from the first floor since Saturday, which they thought was the smell of animal carcasses.

"I mustered up the courage to go upstairs and check. After I opened the door, I saw a brown stain on the floor before seeing a human foot.

"I was shocked and immediately contacted the police," he told reporters on Sunday.

The man said the renovation of his house has been ongoing since last year.

He said that after the shocking discovery of the body, the renovation work on the house continued, but now he was unsure whether he wanted to stay in the home.

"We are thinking about whether we want to stay at the house, as I’m worried my parents would be afraid," he added.

Tumpat district police chief Assistant Commissioner Amran Dolah said based on the body’s condition, the victim could have been dead for at least three days.

"The victim’s body was brought to the Tumpat hospital for an autopsy, and the case was investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code," he said.
