Ahmad Fadhli denies calling himself Ustaz
AHMAD AQMAL AHMAD RAHMANSHAH ALAM - Perikatan Nasional Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari has denied a statement by Shah Alam Umno Youth Exco Azrul Abu Hassan, who said that the former had allegedly introduced himself as 'Ustaz' (preacher) when met at a restaurant in Makkah.
Ahmad Fadhli, on Facebook, vehemently denied it, stating that he has never claimed himself to be a ustaz.
"I’ve never introduced myself as Ustaz; even when I write my own media statements, I have never addressed myself as Ustaz.
"There is nothing on my Facebook to show I have called myself Ustaz. If others want to call me that, it is up to them.
"I believe the man (Azrul) has mistaken me for someone else or has a memory problem. Just like your party president, who denied talking to his teacher but was later confirmed by him," he said.
His statements followed Azrul's comments on Facebook and alleged the Pasir Mas parliamentarian to be arrogant.
Azrul on Saturday commented via Facebook, stating he had approached Ahmad Fadhli as he looked familiar, and the latter had introduced himself as Ustaz.
"I asked him, I feel like I’ve seen you before; who are you? He responded with a smile, saying, I’m an Ustaz."
