'Selangor voters not attracted by PN' - Mohammad Agus

SHAH ALAM - Selangor voters are allegedly no longer interested in voting for Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the state polls as they don't want to be left behind like Kelantan, Terengganu, and Kedah.

Director-general of the Community Communication Department (J-Kom), Datuk Mohammad Agus Yusoff said other reasons were that voters also reject extremism and political bigotry.

"Voters could no longer be poisoned by Malay-Islamic sentiments. If PN is still hoping for the green wave to win, they must know that the notion has now greatly depreciated.

"Selangor voters realise their state is an important stronghold in the unity government to be defended," he said in a statement on Facebook on Sunday.

Agus said the people of Selangor know Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari is the best leader for the state; he is an outstanding leader.

"The current MB is not involved in any corruption, embezzlement, or misuse of power that caused losses for the state.

"For Selangor voters, I have one advice: let’s unite in the election to strengthen the unity government. This is the government that brought stability and prosperity to the country," he said.

He commented further on PN’s confidence to win 33 seats in Selangor, which has a 60 per cent majority of Malay voters, as PN has won six Malay majority parliaments in the last 15th general election (GE15), apart from being confident that Chinese voters have switched to the party.

He explained that PN doesn't know the political culture of Chinese voters.

"Even if they reject PH-BN, they would be willing to throw away their votes rather than voting PN," he said.
