Two online gambling premises raided, 13 foreign citizens arrested
KUALA LUMPUR - A total of 13 individuals including five women were arrested suspected of being involved in managing and promoting online gambling in Jalan Kuchai Lama here on Friday.
Brickfields district police chief Assistant Commissioner Amihizam Abdul Shukor said a team of personnel and police officers from the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department and the Brickfields Police Headquarters performed the separate raids in two gambling premises.
“The first raid was at 4pm, we arrested four foreign individuals including three women aged 20 to 32.
“The second raid was implemented 45 minutes later, we arrested a total of nine individuals including two women aged 21 to 36.
“We seized 14 mobile phones, five sets of computers and laptops, three routers in both raids,” he said in a statement on Sunday.
Amihizam said all individuals were suspected not to own legitimate travel documents.
“Both premises were suspected to be involved in promoting and managing gambling activities and gambling analyst found the items seized were involved in online gambling activities.
“The case is investigated under Section 4(1)(g) Common Gaming Houses Act 1953 and 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/63,” he said.
