KUALA TERENGGANU – Following the organisation of a concert without permission from the local authority (PBT), a public higher education institution (IPTA) in Kuala Nerus was fined RM25,000

The matter was confirmed by Exco Local Government, Housing, Health and Environment, Datuk Dr Alias Razak.

According to Alias, the Kuala Terengganu City Council (MBKT) issued the compound notice in accordance with the MBKT Entertainment and Entertainment Enactment 2002 by-laws.

"The concert organised at the university on June 10 was held without any permit application," he told Sinar on Sunday.

Previously, a 37-second video of a concert purportedly staged in the hall of a Terengganu university went viral on social media.

According to the viral footage, the concert was attended by male and female university students and took place where men and women mixed freely

Following the spread of the video, Terengganu's Exco for Sharia Implementation, Education and Higher Education, Datuk Satiful Bahri Mamat ordered an investigation into the matter.

He claimed that the concert violated the Terengganu State Entertainment, Cultural Performance, Tourism, and Sports Guidelines, which had previously been enforced by the state government.
