PETALING JAYA - Former DAP publicity secretary Tony Pua calls BN – now with Pakatan Harapan in the unity government –a ‘corrupt coalition’.

He had also labelled Bersatu, another Malay nationalist party, as the same.

Pua asked PH not to involve Umno and BN if the coalition won in the upcoming general election (GE) and formed a government within the coalition.

“PH chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim appointed as Prime Minister must prove to the public of many races that the country under PH’s rule is far better and not corrupt as BN.

“We must remember the unity government currently can simply fall apart at any time. It’s important for the prime minister and the government to continue their service.

“A popular prime minister is not for Petaling Jaya, but for Terengganu, Kelantan, Pahang, Kedah, Sabah and Johor,” he said in a speech at the DAP Fundraiser Dinner Ceremony at the Petaling Jaya City Hall (MBPJ) here on Friday.

Pua said Anwar must set an example for Malaysians as well as parties of various races who did not trust that the diverse coalition was clean and not corrupt.

He explained the coalition must prove it to the public so that they know the party was better when compared to Malay-based parties and Malay nationalist parties such as Umno and Bersatu.

“That’s what we want to achieve five years from now, to make a difference.

“Once we succeed, I’m sure within four years when we hold another GE, PH will gain large support from Malaysians.

“We can establish our own government and implement reform and changes we wanted under PH for the good of Malaysians. That’s the most important matter for us all,” he said.

He stated that despite not having a role in DAP at the time, he would not leave the party.
