Arrest made on airplane: Suspect tied to Ah Long case
JOHOR BAHRU - The police have confirmed the arrest of a suspect at the Senai International Airport last Wednesday, who went viral on the TikTok, in connection with an Ah Long case.
According to the Johor Bahru Selatan district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat, the 28-year-old suspect was one of the passengers on the flight who had just arrived from the northern region of the country.
He said that the man's arrest was made per the law.
"The police identified a viral video on TikTok on Friday regarding the arrest of a suspect made by the police on an airplane.
"At the time of the incident (Wednesday), the police were carrying out their duties and successfully identified the suspect, who was a passenger on the said plane.
"The arrest of the suspect, along with his accomplices aged between 21 and 30, were made under Section 5(2) of the Moneylenders Act 1951 and Section 4(1) of the Open Gambling Houses Act 1953," he said in a statement on Friday.
Raub added that all the suspects were remanded for four days starting Thursday to facilitate the investigation.
