Callebaut reveals new game-changing gourmet chocolates
The next time you eat a piece of chocolate, you may not have to feel so guilty about indulging in a little sweetness.
Last week, Swiss chocolatier and cocoa manufacturer Barry Callebaut Group debuted its latest groundbreaking and innovative gourmet chocolates, the Callebaut Ruby RB2, Callebaut NXT Dark and Callebaut NXT M_lk, in Malaysia.
Managing Director of Barry Callebaut in Malaysia Robert Kotuszewski said the introduction of the new range of chocolates is to cater to Malaysian's desire for unique food experiences as well as health and wellness.
"More than half of the working population in Malaysia are Gen Zs and millennials. These young consumers bring a new level of spending power, snacking behavior and taste preferences.
"So, I am excited that we are launching Callebaut’s RB2 and NXT dark and m_lk chocolates.
"We are equipping our customers with a new generation of chocolate inspiration and innovation which responds to the needs of the younger generations of consumers: taste good, feel good and do good!”, said Kotuszewski.
In introducing the new additions to Callebauts extensive range of chocolates, its APAC gourmet global brands marketing manager Marjorie Bourdon, said the unveiling of their extensive range of chocolate in Malaysia was driven by emerging trends in the chocolate market.
“The trends are intense indulgence, healthy indulgence and mindful indulgence.
“For those looking for more intense taste experience, Ruby RB2 will satisfy their cravings for new chocolate sensations as it has a distinctive intense fruitiness and fresh sour notes, along with its remarkable ruby colour."
Bourdon added that the unique colour and taste of Ruby RB2 originated from the ruby cocoa bean and has no artificial colourants or berry-like flavourings.
She said that Callebaut's Ruby RB2 seem to appeal with a new generation of consumers, mainly millennials (18 to 35 years old), who balance a healthy lifestyle with the quest for pleasure.
“As such, Ruby RB2 will be most attractive to leading hotels, restaurants, cafes, as well as bakery and pastry outlets in Malaysia,” she said.
Meanwhile for NXT, Bourdon said it is inspired by and created for all chefs, chocolate lovers, as well as a growing community of vegan and plant-based foodies - in line with the mindful and healthy indulgences trends.
“Both NXT Dark and NXT M_lk is made from 100 per cent plant-based ingredients without any detectable traces of milk or dairy as we have replaced them with chufa, or the tiger nut, which is often referred to as a plant-based ‘milk’ that has a naturally sweet taste.
“To further ensure our consumers can enjoy these NXT chocolates without any worries, we make sure that NXT is produced in a dedicated facility where no dairy ingredients are processed,” added Bourdon.
NXT is made with sunflower lecithin and free of any artificial additives, flavourings or colourants, thus is suitable for chocolate lovers who want to do good, feel good and indulge better, she said.
Malaysian-born chocolatier and the Head Chef at the Chocolate Academy in Singapore, Chef Amanda Lim who was also present at the event said she was excited about the endless possibilities Callebaut's new range of chocolates would bring to the bakery and pastry world.
"I am excited to see innovative creations coming forward from these new Callebaut products and I can’t wait to see the prospects and opportunities they offer to Malaysian chefs and artisans.” she said
