33 houses, six stalls destroyed due to storm in Hulu Kinta

IPOH - A total of 39 premises, comprised of 33 houses and six stalls in Mukim Hulu Kinta, here, were destroyed due to a storm yesterday evening.

Kinta District Disaster Management Committee Secretariat spokeperson informed that the incident happened at about 5.30pm, involving four areas.

He said a total of 17 houses and six stalls in Taman Perpaduan were destroyed, in addition to seven houses in Taman Mewah, six houses in Kampung Batu 5, and three more houses in Kampung Batu 6.

However, no victims were evacuated, and no temporary evacuation centre was opened.

"A total of 39 premises were affected in the incident," he said in a statement today.

He added that eight Kinta Civil Defence Force (APM) personnel were dispatched to monitor and conduct risk assessments in the affected area.

He said that apart from APM, a team from the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department was also present at the scene of the incident.

Norazlan said several other agencies, such as Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), Ipoh City Council, and a concession company, also stepped in to assist with complaints of fallen trees due to the storm.
