According to his aunt Azmeh Dawood, Suleman initially hesitated to go for the trip as he felt “terrified” about the underwater excursion.

Azmeh said her nephew “wasn’t very up for it” at first and recalled to NBC news that the teen ended up going on the trip because it fell on Father’s Day and he wanted to please his dad.

“I am thinking of Suleman, who is 19, in there, just perhaps gasping for breath,” Azmeh said

“It’s been crippling, to be honest, I feel like I’ve been caught in a really bad film, with a countdown, but you didn’t know what you’re counting down to. I personally have found it kind of difficult to breathe thinking of them,” she told the news outlet and called the situation “unreal”.

The search for the submersible and its five passengers was launched after it disappeared during a mission to explore the wreckage of the Titanic.

At the time of this story, U.S Coast Guard officials confirmed that the debris of the sea vessel 'The Titan' had been found on the ocean floor less than half a mile away from the Titanic wreckage.

OceanGate a private research and ocean adventure tourism company which organised the trip, believes all five on board have perished.
