Sabah has the potential to be a comfortable state to live in - Shahelmey
KOTA KINABALU - Sabah has the potential to be a comfortable state to live in within the next 10 years if the system network involving infrastructure, education, health and housing is in good condition.
Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Ir Shahelmey Yahya said that Sabah is in a strategic geographical position, as well as possessing natural beauty and a plethora of natural resources, whether they were already present or would be explored in the future.
"However, in order for a state to be considered a 'livable state,' numerous conditions must be met.
“First and foremost, good and secure infrastructure, including roads, water, and electricity.
"We will achieve a 'livable state' by combining a good, complete, and safe infrastructure network, a good education system, a good health system, and a good housing system," he stated.
He announced this at the Student Dialogue Programme held at Dewan Al-Bukhari, UiTM Sabah Branch, Kota Kinabalu Campus on Thursday.
"The federal government, in collaboration with the state government, is upgrading the federal road known as Lebuhraya Pan Borneo Sabah, which is divided into three phases, the first of which has 35 packages, the second of which runs from Tamparuli to Ranau, and the third of which runs from Kimanis to Kalabakan but has not yet been fully implemented."
"With the Pan Borneo Highway project, which is expected to be completed in 10 years, it will help spark economic growth in Sabah," he stated.
The third edition of the Student Dialogue was hosted by Safwan Sawi, which featured Muar Member of Parliament Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman and Youth and Sports Deputy Adam Adli.
