MARANG - Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar is set to announce the dissolution of the State Assembly in preparation for the upcoming election after June 26.

Terengganu Pas Election director Ariffin Deraman believes the possibility of the state assembly dissolution occurring between June 27 and June 28, as these dates are most suitable before the automatic dissolution on June 30.

"It depends on the Menteri Besar, but I believe the state assembly dissolution will take place after the programme in Istana Syarqiyyah for His Majesty Terengganu Sultan's Birthday on June 26. Only then will the dissolution happen," Ariffin said.

He expressed confidence that the Menteri Besar would take some time after the programme on the 26th, following the banquet with special guests and the underprivileged, which would be the last programme in the palace involving the public.

Ariffin made these comments during a meeting with media after presiding over the Alur Limbat State Assembly 5A Residential Group Land Plan (RTB) Form presentation ceremony at the Bukit Paying Civic Hall.

In a related matter, Ariffin also noted that preparations were underway for the upcoming elections.

He clarified that they faced no issues as the 15th general election (GE15) held in November had been regarded as a "simulated election."

"This meant that it served as a training ground, and they were still prepared. The flags from the previous election were still available and some areas had already displayed them.

"We don't need new flags because the current ones are in good condition. The people are still familiar with them; it's still fresh in their minds," he added," he added.

Terengganu has yet to finalise the date for the dissolution of the state assembly.

Meanwhile, five other states, namely Kelantan (June 22), Selangor (June 23), Penang (June 28), Kedah (June 28), and Negeri Sembilan (June 30), have already decided on their respective state assembly dissolutions.
