SHAH ALAM - The MIC has officially applied for several seats in the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) to contest the upcoming state election.

MIC President Tan Sri SA Vigneswaran confirmed the application but did not disclose the specific seats to Sinar Premium.

He stated that the decision regarding the number of seats had been submitted to the highest leadership of Barisan Nasional (BN), the coalition the party belongs to.

"We have submitted it to BN President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi for discussion on the seat application.

"At the moment, no decision has been made," he briefly stated on Wednesday.

Previously, both MCA and Negeri Sembilan MIC expressed their belief that they should be given the opportunity to compete for seats in the upcoming state election.

According to state MCA leader, Siow Koi Voon, all principle component parties participating in the unity government should be granted the chance to compete.

On the other hand, state MIC Chief Datuk L Manickam disagreed with the idea of not allocating any seats to the party.
