SHAH ALAM - The word 'green wave, referring to the rakyat’s support for Perikatan Nasional (PN) is seen by some parties with a negative connotation.

Former Umno Youth Leader Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar said the word is described with an implied meaning that reflects the existence of extremist propaganda.

"There are foreign media that use the word 'green wave', as if PN wins the election, Malaysia will be controlled by groups like the Taliban.

"So I strongly disagree with DAP leaders, such as Tan Sri Lim Kit Siang who are using this to sway votes," he said.

Earlier, Kit Siang stated that the government should implement reform policies and national reconstruction programmes to prevent Malaysia from drowning in the Pas green wave.

He said the government should learn from the 15th General Election (GE15) to prevent democracy from being hijacked by the politics of lies, fear, hatred, racism, and religion.

In the meantime, Khairy Jamaluddin insisted that the rakyat’s support for Perikatan Nasional (PN) is not due to religious and ethnic factors but is due to the current instability of the country.
