Screenshot of Ebit Lew-complainant revealed
TENOM - The analysis of the complainant's mobile phone concerning a screenshot of a conversation with well-known preacher Ebit Irawan Ibrahim Lew, also known as Ebit Lew, has revealed that it dates back to March 4, 2021.
The matter was revealed by Cheras, Selangor Police Forensic Laboratory Senior Audio/Video Analyst Assistant Superintendent Latifah Abdul Aziz at the Tenom Magistrate’s Court, Sabah on Wednesday.
As the seventh witness, Latifah informed the court that the screenshot, labeled as NA-1, captured a WhatsApp conversation that began on March 4, 2021.
The witness further explained that the screenshot was one of the 219 obtained from the complainant's phone, which was stored on a DVD-R disc.
This disc served as one of the pieces of evidence in the sexual harassment case involving Ebit Lew.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nor Azizah Mohamad, leading the main investigation, sought clarification from the witness regarding the first screenshot, which displayed a timestamp of 2:28am.
In response, the witness clarified that the timestamp indicated the time the message was sent to the recipient (complainant).
The screenshots also revealed voice calls made by the sender (Ebit) to the recipient (complainant) on two different dates, which went unanswered.
The court proceedings continued in the absence of Ebit, as his lawyer informed the court that he was performing Hajj in Mecca.
Ebit is facing 11 charges under Section 509 of the Penal Code for intent to insult a woman's modesty through WhatsApp between March and June 2021.
Magistrate Nur Asyraf Zolhani presided over the case, which was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor Nor Azizah Mohamad and Zahida Zakaria.
Ebit was represented by lawyers Ram Singh, Kamarudin Mohmad Chinki, and Mohd Syarulnizam Salleh Keruak.
