N.Sembilan MB, Exco officials to return official vehicles ahead of election
SEREMBAN - The Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan and government officials have announced their intention to return all official vehicles to the state government after the candidate nomination day in preparation for the upcoming election.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun clarified that the vehicles were only used for official purposes.
"We are still functioning as the caretaker government, with Excos carrying out their official duties and utilising the vehicles and drivers until the last day.
"We have discussed this matter earlier to ensure that we avoid any negative perceptions.
"Legal officials have advised against engaging in campaign activities, making promises, or approving projects that are part of the election manifesto. However, if project approvals are already included in the manifesto, there will be no issues," Aminuddin told a press conference after chairing the Exco meeting on Wednesday.
According to reports, Aminuddin is scheduled to meet with the Yang di-Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir, on June 28 to seek permission to dissolve the State Assembly in preparation for the election.
The dissolution of the State Assembly is set to take place on June 30.
Aminuddin revealed that all 20 Pakatan Harapan (PH) assemblymen in the state had expressed interest in participating in the election.
However, the decision to include them as candidates will depend on the grassroots leadership of their respective parties.
In another development, the Negeri Sembilan state government aims to attract 500,000 visitors to the 2023 NS Fest Programme, which will take place over four days starting Thursday at Dataran Nilai.
