SHAH ALAM - The retirement ceremony for Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani is expected to take place on Thursday at the Kuala Lumpur Police Training Centre (Pulapol).

The handover ceremony will commence at 9am, followed by the retirement march at 3:30pm.

Earlier reports had indicated that Acryl Sani would retire from his position during the first week of July.

Speculations have emerged regarding the potential successor for the top cop role, with the current Deputy IGP, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, being linked as a possible replacement.

Another prominent candidate being considered for the deputy IGP position is the Federal Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay.

Additional candidates under consideration for the role include the Federal Police Internal Security and Public Order Department Director, Datuk Seri Hazani Ghazali, and the Federal Police Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) Director, Datuk Seri Mohd Kamaruddin Md Din.

Razarudin was appointed Deputy IGP in December 2021, and his contract was extended for two years until March 15, 2025.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has submitted the names of the IGP and Deputy IGP candidates to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
