SHAH ALAM - Klang records an unhealthy Air Pollution Index (API) of 165 as of noon today, reported the Department of Environment (DOE).

According to the Malaysian Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS), the API reading was 168 since 6am.

A total of 50 locations including Kemaman (52), Paka (58), Besut (56), Kota Bharu (69), Samarahan (53) and Kuching (53) recorded moderate readings.

Meanwhile, a total of 17 areas recorded a healthy API which included Langkawi (42), several districts in Sarawak such as Limbang (38) and Miri (52), followed by Labuan (15) including Tawau (33), Sandakan (27), Kota Kinabalu (33), Kimanis (15) and Keningau (35) in Sabah.

The API reading between 0 and 50 was considered as good, 51 and 100 (moderate), 101 and 200 (unhealthy), 201 and 300 (very unhealthy), while readings between 300 and above were considered as the dangerous level.
