Razarudin, Ayob Khan to lead PDRM?

SHAH ALAM - Tan Sri Razarudin Husain and Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay are said to be among the candidates considered for the posts of Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIGP), following current IGP Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani’s decision to step down.

Both senior officers were currently holding the positions of DIGP and the Federal Criminal Investigations Department director respectively.

It is believed that Razarudin will succeed Acryl as IGP, while Ayob Khan was said to be considered for the DIGP post.

It was reported that Acryl has confirmed that he will step down in the first week of July, months before his contract expires.

Previously, his employment contract was extended by two years effective Oct 4, 2021 until Oct 3.

Razarudin was appointed as DIGP in December 2021 before his contract was extended by two years effective March 16 until March 15, 2025.

The Dengkil-born officer reported for duty for the first time in 1984 at the Kedah Police Contingent Criminal Investigation Department (CID) as an investigating officer and continued his service at the department until 1996 with the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Muar, Johor.

He then held various positions in the police force among others as the Penang CID chief, Perak police chief and the Bukit Aman’s Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) director before he was appointed as DIGP.
