Kelantan civil force thank PM for solving housing issues

KOTA BHARU - Civil servants home buyers for the apartments in Lembah Sireh welcomed the moratorium announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Sunday.

They were happy to note that the payments which has been made for more than three years can be made again after the house is fully completed.

Home buyer, Noor Alizam Shafie, 35, admitted that he was previously burdened by having to spend more than RM1,000 a month to pay for her first home.

"Most buyers also rent other houses, causing an additional monthly commitment," she told Sinar on Monday.

However, she was grateful that the government took the issue seriously and buyers were satisfied with the Prime Minister's decision.

"Even after this, when we are longer affected by the payment, we still urge the developer to finish up the housing project because some of us who bought houses because we want to avoid continuing to rent houses," she added.

Meanwhile,Universiti Sains Malaysia, biomedical lecturer Dr Maryan Azlan, 43, expressed her happiness for the Prime Minister's announcement, which showed his concern for the problem of home buyers.

At the same time, she hopes that the Public Sector Housing Financing Board (LPPSA) will inform buyers of the terms and conditions imposed on them immediately after a purchase is made.

Dr Maryan, who has made payments since October 2021 amounting to more than RM1,500, hopes that there will be no more developers and promises that buyers can occupy the house as soon as possible.

"We also want the developer to complete the house construction as soon as possible because the Prime Minister on Sunday informed the Federal Government that it has agreed to postpone the loan repayment for buyers of the Lembah Sireh civil servants apartment house that has been abandoned since 2020," she said.

She also informed buyers that they should continue to pay after the house keys are handed over to them.

Anwar said the decision was made to ease the burden on buyers who had to bear loan payments through LPPSA.

He said that the loan payment relief were to be given to the buyers until they could occupy the house.
