IGP to retire earlier than expected

KUALA LUMPUR - The Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani, will retire earlier than expected.

According to a report in Berita Harian, Acryl will retire as the chief of the the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) in the first week of July although technically his retirement date is in October.

Following his retirement, the task of leading the police to face the six State Elections (PRN) which is most likely to take place this July or August, will be carried out by his Deputy, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.

Acryl Sani confirmed the matter in the report.

"Yes, it's true, I will retire in the first week of July.

"This decision was made because there is an offer out there that I have to accept at this time," he was reported as saying.

Acryl did not give further details about the offer he received.

Quoting sources, it is said Acryl will be appointed to lead a government-owned banking company in the near future.

So far the name of his potential successor has not been confirmed.
