SHAH ALAM - Social media users have raised questions on the absence of Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli in a meeting held by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim with economists and industry experts to discuss the country's direction.

However, former Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin was invited by Anwar to attend the meeting despite not being widely recognised as an economic expert.

However, it is unclear what role Khairy played in the meeting.

A Facebook user, Ahmad Mohamad expressed his confusion as to why economic problems were being discussed in the absence of the Economy Minister.

Facebook user Nossbarber believes Rafizi should be included in the discussion because it involves the country's economy." "It doesn't matter if it's a point of view or what," he wrote.

In addition, social media users drew connections between Khairy's participation in the conversation and rumours suggesting that he may join the opposition party in anticipation of the upcoming state election.

Facebook user Adnan Jaafar questioned whether the Anwar-led administration would be concerned if KJ joined Perikatan Nasional (PN).

"Are you worried about KJ joining PN?" he asked.

However, several individuals praised Anwar's behaviour by inviting KJ to the discussion.

It is not inappropriate to discuss the country's future together. "Our country should remain united," one Facebook user wrote.
