Double Season Art Roadshow to boost artists' income
KUALA TERENGGANU - The Kuala Terengganu Double Season Roadshow programme, organised by the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry (MOTAC), through the National Arts Gallery, has the potential of boosting the incomes of local artists.
The ministry secretary-general Datuk Saraya Arbi said the programme, from December last year till this June, is in line with a national cultural policy launched by the ministry last year, namely the generation of cultural economy.
"This is a programme not only in Terengganu but in several other states previously, which did help rejuvenate local economic activity, especially for those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
"What we are trying to bring and establish here are new activities and locations where we turn them into new products to attract domestic and international tourists,” she told reporters after visiting the Rumah Kayu here today.
She said that the programme would be continued in other states with its own specific plans managed by the National Visual Arts Board director-general Amerrudin Ahmad.
The current programme, with the theme 'Lindungan dan Dagangan' is a collection of original Kuala Terengganu Art focused around several paintings by the late Dahlan Sulaiman and a trishaw that are being exhibited at the Terengganu branch of the Historical Society of Malaysia.
The programme is aimed at highlighting local expertise, art, culture and heritage, and is divided into four segments, an exhibition, Art at Locations, an international symposium and activities with the local community courtesy of the National Art Gallery, the state government, and the local and international art communities. - BERNAMA
