KJ to meet PN's leadership next week
GEORGETOWN - Former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin will meet with the leadership of Perikatan Nasional (PN) to discuss about Khairy joining the political coalition.
PN chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said he had set the date next week for the meeting.
"I have set a date and he (Khairy) will come to meet me next week.
"We hope he will join PN but we leave the decision to him. He is wise enough to decide," he said when met after Penang PN Machinery Convention and Launch at Penang Gerakan Headquarters, here, today.
Previously, it was reported that Muhyiddin, who is also Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president, had offered Khairy a position in the party's Supreme Council.
The offer came after Khairy was sacked from Umno, taking into account his ability to contribute in strengthening Bersatu in addition to his stature as a young political leader.
However, Khairy has yet to issue any statement about the offer.
Pas secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan recently informed that Khairy has yet to decide on being with PN.
The possibility of Khairy joining PN has become a question mark as the former health minister reportedly participated in a meeting with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim with several economic experts yesterday to discuss the direction of the country's economy.
However, the role of the former Rembau MP in the meeting with Anwar and Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Johari Ghani could not be confirmed.
