GUA MUSANG - The air unit of the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) held a medical evacuation (Medevac ) flight for an Orang Asli woman who has been suffering from a shortness of breath since a month ago from Pos Pasik near here for further treatment at Gua Musang Hospital yesterday.

JBPM Subang air base public relations officer, Mohd Hasrizal Kamaruzzaman said Asmah Asod, 43, who was accompanied by her sister Leha Mat Noor, 42, was brought out from the settlement using an Agusta Westland 189 (AW189) aircraft at 3.35 pm.

He said the patient needed assistance to breath as she was unable to breathe properly besides suffering from chest pain, dizziness and vomiting.

"The aeroplane left the base at 2.10 pm and reached Gua Musang Fire and Rescue Station at 3.10 pm to pick up two Health Ministry personnel for the mission.

"The aircraft returned to Gua Musang station at 3.55 pm with the patient who was transferred to the hospital in an ambulance,” he said in a statement today.

Mohd Hasrizal said the operation was headed by JBPM Senior Assistant Fire Superintendent Safri Rambil and was assisted by Deputy Superintendent II Khirulnizam Jamaludin and three other crews who returned to the base in Subang at 5.15 pm.

"Despite the weather with low clouds, the operation was successfully carried out in 3 hours and 12 minutes,” he said. - BERNAMA
