AMPANG - A 39-year-old man was arrested for stealing a Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) club jersey at a shopping mall yesterday.

Ampang Jaya district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail said the assistant manager noticed the suspect taking a PSG and Manchester United jersey to the dressing room to try it on at about 7.20pm.

However, the worker saw the man leaving the dressing room with only the Manchester United jersey.

"When the suspect was about to leave, the security scanner door rang because the jersey he stole still had the tag on it.

"The worker then apprehended the man and found the PSG jersey worth RM299 in his backpack," he said in a statement today.

The suspect was then handed over to the police.

Investigations found that the suspect had no past criminal records and tested negative for drugs.

"The suspect is remanded for four days until June 18 to assist in the investigation under Section 380 of the Penal Code," he said.
