KUALA LUMPUR, - The Health Ministry has taken note of the issue that two children suffered from cerebral palsy after being born in a government-owned health facility.

The ministry in a statement, also gave its commitment to immediately complete the investigation into the issue, which has gone viral, adding that it understood the difficulties faced by patients and families and was always ready to help them.

The ministry explained that the case has been categorised as a complex complaint and its management is done based on the Guidelines on the Management of Medico legal Complaints in the Ministry Of Health, second edition 2019, which stipulates that every complaint must be investigated by the hospital and the ministry if necessary.

"A review found that the complaints for both cases had been investigated at the hospital level and the MOH level and in further investigation by the MOH Legal Advisory Office.

"The management of cases like this takes a long time because it requires the involvement of various parties, including the medical experts involved and the Attorney-General’s Chambers,” it said.
