KUALA TERENGGANU - The state government will initiate an investigation into a viral video showing a concert performance that took place at a higher education institution hall.

Terengganu Syariah Enforcement, Education and Higher Education Exco Datuk Saiful Bahri Mamat said he has yet to receive reports on the matter.

He said such events should not take place within a university if they go against the established guidelines.

"We have distributed syariah guidelines to all departments in Terengganu. This concert should not have been held at the university. After all, it falls under the same committee and myself as the chairman of the higher education and training Exco," he said told reporters after attending the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) Kick-off Bsas Aeronautics programme here today.

Saiful Bahri also believes that it is essential to adhere to the set guidelines, even within the university's premises, as it remains bound by the state government's policies, which are designed to ensure Syariah compliance.

"I would like to request further information and investigate this matter thoroughly," he added.

The viral video, which lasted 37 seconds, depicted a concert allegedly held at a university hall in Terengganu.

The footage displayed the presence of both men and women from the university attending the event.
