SHAH ALAM - Former Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin and former Umno information chief Shahril Sufian Hamdan say they want to move forward or 'move on' and reject the invitation to rejoin Umno.
Khairy, the former Umno youth chief said they should continue to 'move on' after the party leadership had decided to suspend or dismiss their membership.
"I agree with the statements made by Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein and Datuk Maulizan Bujang, both of whom faced disciplinary action and questioned why Umno is asking us to appeal.
"We want to appeal but we don't know why we were dismissed or suspended," he said at Keluar Sekejap podcast today.
Yesterday, Hishamuddin, the Sembrong MP questioned the sincerity of Umno's invitation to any of its members who have faced disciplinary action, including those who have been suspended or expelled.
The former Umno deputy president said the invitation from Umno President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi does not make sense because as he is not aware the reason behind the suspension of his membership.
Khairy said there is no basis for them to make an appeal as the suspension and dismissal were not raised in the party's disciplinary committee.
Shahril agreed with Khairy, stating that the refusal to rejoin Umno has nothing to do with being egoistic.
"But you can't just reject me and then try to want me back later.
"For me, the doors are not permanently closed but considering the current circumstances, it may not be the right time (to rejoin Umno)," said Shahril.
