SHAH ALAM - The state government is waiting the consent of Selangor Sultan, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah to determine the date to dissolve state assembly.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the date to dissolve the assembly to make way for state elections will only be announced after obtaining His Majesty's consent.

He said this after a Special Address by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to the state civil servants at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Jubilee Hall here on Monday.

Earlier today, Amirudin denied allegations that the Selangor state assembly would be dissolved on June 19, paving the way for an upcoming state election.

Amirudin, the Sungai Tua state assemblyman said the allegations are false and that the mentioned date marks the completion of his five-year term as the Chief Minister, which began on June 19, 2018.

On June 5, the media reported that the Selangor Perikatan Nasional (PN) chief Datuk Seri Azmin Ali said during a PN ceramah programme in Tanjong Karang that the state assembly would be dissolved on June 19.

Meanwhile, Amirudin said that Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) in Selangor have yet to reach a consensus on their negotiations involving three out of 56 state seats.

He said another final round of discussions is expected to take place this week before a decision is made.

"There has been no official discussions yet. This week, there will be a final discussion, and after that, a decision will be reached. I am confident that we will have a decision before or after Hari Raya Haji," he said.

He further said the discussions with BN are much better compared to those with any of the component parties in the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) coalition in previous elections.

"During the previous PR era, even on the eve of the election, there were still clashes. In the 2013 general election, Pas fielded a candidate in Kota Damansara, which overlapped with our coalition partner, causing significant conflicts," he said.
