SHAH ALAM - Malays are the majority of the country and should have all the rights to rule this country, says Tan Sri Rahim Thamby Chik.

The Bersatu Information committee member acknowledges the importance of Malay Proclamation which has been advocated by 98-year old former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad as a means to unite Malays through collective efforts.

“As we are the majority in the country even though there are political parties who are moving in the same direction, what Mahathir is doing now is assisting that kind of movement.

“At the end of the day, we would have a bigger unity with the Malay party or Malay members and we must rule this country because we are the majority.

“I have not regrets joining Perikatan Nasional (PN), I’m happy at PN because Umno is so entrenched into corruption,” he said, adding that it was better to migrate to the new party.

"Everything is new and fresh," he said.

As a PN member, Rahim Thamby hopes to make the coalition stronger with better people like him coming forward to provide the experience and the ideas.

"We are fully prepared to carry on the legacy of Umno by advocating for the protection and interests of Malays in this country," he added.
