GOMBAK - Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari denies the claim that he will dissolve the Selangor State Legislative Assembly (DUN) on June 19.

Amirudin said June 19 was the date he was sworn in as Menteri Besar in front of Sultan Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

Because of that, he said, some parties claimed that the date would be chosen for the dissolution of the Selangor DUN.

“June 19 marks five years since I took the oath as Menteri Besar of Selangor. That is why some people think I want to dissolve on June 19.

“No (on dissolution), that is just the date I took the oath,” he said at the Gombak Trek Rides launch on Monday.

Perikatan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Azmin Ali previously claimed that the state assembly would be dissolved on June 19 when he spoke at a PN campaign programme in Tanjong Karang last week.

Meanwhile, Amirudin, who is also the Gombak MP said that he would wait for the Sultan’s approval in regard to the date of dissolution of the state assembly.

“There is no date yet, but I had an audience with His Majesty last week and the matter is already under His Majesty’s attention.

“His Majesty will set the date, but there may be some matters and revisions that need to be completed first before the dissolution date is decided,” he said.

Meanwhile, Amirudin said Gombak Trek Rides offered public services covering 71 stops around Gombak including Wira Damai, Kampung Laksamana, Kampung Sungai Tua and Sungai Kertas.

He said Gombak was the third location after Puchong and Bangsar that would be offered for free for three months starting Monday.

“We are looking at the feedback, if this service is successful then it will be expanded to more locations in Selangor.

“The state government is also considering giving subsidies to encourage people to use public transport to overcome private vehicles on the road that cause traffic congestion,” he said.

Gombak Trek Rides allows users to make reservations through the Trek App, which offered public transport sharing using micro vans.

It was also introduced as an effort to solve the problem of the first-mile-last-mile transport network.
