Kelantan to announce state assembly dissolution date next week

KOTA BHARU - Kelantan is expected to announce the date of the State Assembly's dissolution next week, paving the way for the upcoming state elections.

Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob said an announcement will be made after its weekly meeting on Wednesday.

"We will await the exco meeting this week," he was quoted in Astro Awani.

Meanwhile, his deputy Datuk Moh Amar Abdullah said the same.

Kelantan has 45 state seats with seven held by Umno and one by Bersatu. The remaining are held by Pas.

Previously, Pas secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan had said the process of dividing seats between Perikatan Nasional (PN) with the six states involved in PRN, is almost complete.

The term of the Kelantan state assembly ends at the end of this month.
