Newborn body found floating near village bridge
ASYIKIN ASMINKOTA KINABALU - A baby's body was found floating near a bridge in a village here on Saturday evening.
The body, whose gender is unknown was found at about 6.30pm.
Acting Kota Kinabalu District Police Chief Superintendent Kalsom Idris said they received a report on the incident from a complainant who saw the body while crossing a wooden bridge.
He said a boy had asked the complainant about the object floating under the bridge.
“The complainant then noticed the floating object and found it to be a baby’s body believed to be a newborn and floating on the water near the bridge,” he said in a statement today.
The complainant called the police and sought assistance from nearby villagers.
“So far we have not received any information about the baby who is suspected to have been thrown into the sea after birth.
