AMPANG - Memories of working at the Ampang District Police Headquarters (IPD) for 22 years since the communist era are still vivid in the mind of former policeman sub-inspector (B) Mohd Nasir Che Soh.

Nasir, 63 said he started serving at IPD Ampang (now known as IPD Ampang Jaya) in 1983 which was one of the black areas that needed security measures.

"At that time, the area was still a 'black area', we needed to increase patrols and establish police booths to maintain the safety of residents.

"At the same time, the cops needed to be careful of the communist threat," he said when met at the Otai IPD Ampang/ Ampang Jaya 2023 Reunion Leisure Event. last night.

Nasir said that the police had also found a place where communist weapons were stored in a vegetable garden in Taman Kosas (now a residential area).

"Working at IPD Ampang at that time was considered very special because of the bond formed resembling like brothers and sisters," he said.

Meanwhile, Otai IPD Ampang/ Ampang Jaya 2023 Reunion Leisure Event chairman Datuk Alias Abd Rahman said that a total of 120 former policemen attended the ceremony.

"Events like this are important to further strengthen the relationship between those who had served at IPD Ampang Jaya.

"Besides that, we can also share bittersweet experiences while serving in the police force," he said.
