Umno members should emulate Noraini, Shahrizat and unite for the sake of the party

KUALA LUMPUR - Umno members should follow the example of Datuk Seri Noraini Ahmad and Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil who have made amends for the survival of the party.

President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he was extremely proud of the two women for putting aside their differences and working together in a new political chapter for the benefit of the Wanita wing and the party.

Zahid remarked that he was informed that both the women have 'cium mulut' which is Malay slang for making amends.

"This is the report I received. What I mean is that both of these leaders have decided to close their old books and start a new journey to move forward.

"The spirit displayed by Datuk Seri Noraini and Tan Sri Shahrizat should be emulated by all Wanita Umno leaders and members of Wanita Umno around the country," Zahid said in his winding-up speech at the 2023 Umno general assembly.

In March this year, Noraini went against Shahrizat in defending the Wanita Chief post.

Earlier, Zahid congratulated Shahrizat for her new role in Hawa (the Women and Family Affairs Council), which was launched during the assembly.

"Hawa i should be supported by all Umno divisions and branches around the country. The setting of Hawa will by no means clash with the role played by Wanita Umno.

"There is no competition between Hawa and Wanita Umno. I say this because I equally care for both of the women leaders, Kak Ijat (Shahrizat) and Noraini.

"And I do not want these two female figures to go against each other in any political field," Zahid said.
